Department: SHEQ
Reports to: Operations Manager

Purpose

Provide Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) support and advice to employees, contractors, and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company requirements while promoting a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Develop and implement strategies to prevent incidents and improve overall SHEQ performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all SHEQ policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Monitor industry developments and implement improvements where applicable
  • Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and recommend control measures
  • Develop and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to risk assessments and safety documentation
  • Maintain SHEQ records, registers, and performance data
  • Facilitate site inductions and safety training programs
  • Deliver or coordinate toolbox talks and workforce engagement activities
  • Support management in resolving safety and environmental issues
  • Investigate incidents and prepare reports with corrective actions
  • Coordinate return-to-work and rehabilitation processes
  • Ensure employee competencies, licences, and certifications remain current
  • Assist with tender submissions by providing SHEQ input

Selection Criteria

  • Strong understanding of SHEQ principles and legislation
  • Ability to build relationships with workers, management, and clients
  • Effective communication, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience in the construction or similar industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant systems

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Return to Work Coordinator certification
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
