Department: SHEQ
Reports to: Operations Manager
Purpose
Provide Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) support and advice to employees, contractors, and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company requirements while promoting a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Develop and implement strategies to prevent incidents and improve overall SHEQ performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all SHEQ policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Monitor industry developments and implement improvements where applicable
- Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, and recommend control measures
- Develop and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
- Monitor and ensure adherence to risk assessments and safety documentation
- Maintain SHEQ records, registers, and performance data
- Facilitate site inductions and safety training programs
- Deliver or coordinate toolbox talks and workforce engagement activities
- Support management in resolving safety and environmental issues
- Investigate incidents and prepare reports with corrective actions
- Coordinate return-to-work and rehabilitation processes
- Ensure employee competencies, licences, and certifications remain current
- Assist with tender submissions by providing SHEQ input
Selection Criteria
- Strong understanding of SHEQ principles and legislation
- Ability to build relationships with workers, management, and clients
- Effective communication, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience in the construction or similar industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant systems
Key Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid driver's licence
- Return to Work Coordinator certification
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
