Electrical Engineer opportunity in South Melbourne. $150k + super, strong project pipeline and ownership across major commercial projects.
As Electrical Engineer, you'll play a key role in overseeing engineering deliverables across multiple commercial electrical projects.
Working alongside a small internal engineering team and supporting four Project Managers, you'll be responsible for reviewing electrical designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Review and assess electrical designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation across commercial construction projects.
Undertake technical design reviews and provide engineering sign-off in accordance with relevant authorisations and standards.
Ensure electrical installations and designs comply with Australian Standards, regulatory requirements and project specifications.
Provide technical engineering support to Project Managers, site teams and internal engineers.
Oversee engineering deliverables across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
Review project documentation to identify design discrepancies, technical risks and potential constructability issues.
Liaise with clients, builders, consultants and other stakeholders to resolve technical matters.
Attend design coordination meetings, client meetings and project reviews.
Review electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, switchboards and associated building services.
Support the coordination of engineering drawings and BIM models to minimise clashes and improve project delivery.
Assist in developing and improving internal engineering processes, technical standards and documentation.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where required.
Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure engineering requirements are met from design through to construction and commissioning.
We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong technical background in commercial electrical construction and the ability to independently review and sign off on electrical designs.
To be successful, you'll ideally bring:
Approximately 10 years' experience in electrical engineering, ideally within commercial construction or electrical contracting.
Previous experience working for an electrical contractor or within a contractor-side engineering environment.
R126 signing capability is essential.
Demonstrated experience reviewing, assessing and signing off electrical designs and engineering documentation.
Strong technical knowledge of commercial electrical systems, including LV power distribution, lighting, switchboards and associated building services.
Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards, electrical regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience providing engineering oversight and technical support across multiple construction projects.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
Strong understanding of design coordination, constructability and engineering risk management.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, consultants and project teams.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing engineering priorities.
Experience with BIM coordination and digital engineering processes will be highly regarded.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
$150,000 + superannuation.
