An established and growing residential builder delivering a diverse range of homes across the Victorian market.
With a continued focus on product development and design innovation, they are looking for an experienced residential designer to help shape the future of their home designs, façades and display-home offering.
This is a hands-on residential design role responsible for developing new homes from initial concept through to a resolved, buildable and commercially viable product.
You will create floor plans, façades, design variations and display-home concepts across different lot widths, house sizes and customer segments. The role requires someone who can balance strong design with liveability, construction efficiency, compliance and cost.
Working closely with the Director and teams across Sales, Marketing, Drafting, Estimating, Procurement, Interiors and Construction, you will have genuine influence over the company's future product direction.
Design new single and double-storey residential floor plans
Develop products across varying lot widths, house sizes and market segments
Take designs from initial concept through to product release
Lead the design development of new display homes
Create new façade concepts, architectural styles and customer options
Develop alternative layouts, variations and upgrade opportunities
Review and improve existing home designs and façade ranges
Consider liveability, furniture placement, natural light, storage and circulation
Balance customer appeal with buildability, compliance and commercial viability
Research market trends, competitor products and changing buyer expectations
Work with Estimating and Procurement to meet required price points
Collaborate with Drafting and Construction to resolve documentation and buildability matters
Work with Interior Design and Colour teams on display-home concepts and finishes
Qualification in Architecture, Building Design, Interior Architecture, Interior Design or a related discipline
Strong residential housing design experience
Background within a volume, project or custom home builder preferred
Proven ability to create functional and commercially attractive floor plans
Display-home or residential product development experience highly regarded
Strong understanding of contemporary residential and façade design
Sound knowledge of Victorian construction methods and buildability
Working knowledge of ResCode, NCC and Victorian planning requirements
Understanding of lot constraints, building envelopes and developer guidelines
Strong visual presentation and spatial planning capability
Ability to balance design quality, customer appeal and construction cost
Strong communication, collaboration and time-management skills
Direct influence over future home designs and product direction
Ownership of projects from initial concept through to final product
Opportunity to lead the design of new display homes
