Western Sydney’s $360 million stadium is nearing completion. Sitting at 92 per cent complete and scheduled to be finished by the end of March, it has been an exciting few months with plenty happening.

So, what’s been happening on site:

  • 26,000 cubic metres of concrete have been poured
  • 4,500 tonnes of steel have been installed
  • Approximately 80 per cent of the 30,000 seats have been installed
  • Installation of the high-tec playing surface system is underway with the delivery and installation turf scheduled for March
  • Testing of the new coloured LED lights has commenced
  • Landscaping of the public domain continues
  • Fit out works are continuing with food and beverage outlets being progressively finished.

The well-known stadium will no longer be recognised as ‘Western Sydney Stadium’ after a seven-year partnership between the NSW Government and Bankwest for naming-rights of the stadium was announced. Western Sydney Stadium will now be known as ‘Bankwest Stadium’.

Stuart Ayres NSW Minister for Sport and Western Sydney made the announcement saying “Bankwest has embraced the opportunity to be part of booming Western Sydney and the company’s commitment to the naming rights of the venue is a huge vote of confidence in both the future of the Stadium and the region”.

A long list of calendar events and activities has already been established, with the first sporting event commencing with Parramatta Eels v Wests Tigers on
Easter Monday.

Bankwest Stadium will also host a range of community events, as well as meetings, functions and other special events.
