DIDO in Victoria - Accommodation, Food and Fuel Support
This is a Victorian DIDO opportunity suited to experienced underground fitters who want to move away from interstate FIFO while continuing to earn a strong mining rate.
For candidates who are not currently based within daily driving distance of Ballarat, support will be provided by Marble to make the opportunity financially and practically achievable.

Roster and Hours
You'll work a balanced seven-on, seven-off rotating roster across days and nights:
- 7 days on / 7 days off
- 7 nights on / 7 days off
- Wednesday-to-Tuesday roster
- Day shift: 6:00am-6:00pm
- Night shift: 6:00pm-6:00am
This roster provides consistent hours, strong earning potential and a full week off between each rotation.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll join the underground maintenance team with a primary focus on production drill rigs and associated underground mining equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Underground breakdown repairs and diagnostics
- Hydraulic, mechanical and basic electrical fault-finding
- Component change-outs and general repairs
- Assisting with equipment rebuilds and inspections
- Completing workshop and underground maintenance activities
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and safety records
- Working closely with operators and the wider maintenance team
- Identifying opportunities to improve fleet reliability
- Minimising equipment downtime and supporting production targets
The Equipment
The role will primarily involve maintenance and repairs across:
- Sandvik underground production drill rigs
- Underground mobile mining equipment
- Ancillary underground equipment
Previous experience maintaining Sandvik production drills will be highly regarded; however, candidates with strong experience across similar underground drills may also be considered.
Your Skills and Experience
To be considered, you'll ideally bring:
- Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant Mechanical trade qualification
- Previous underground mining experience & experience maintaining underground production drill rigs
- Sandvik drill experience highly regarded
- Strong hydraulic, mechanical and diagnostic fault-finding skills
- Experience completing breakdowns, servicing and preventative maintenance plus the ability to complete component change-outs and repairs
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable attitude and strong work ethic plus the ability to work effectively within a close-knit maintenance team
- Good communication and troubleshooting skills
