The Project

Situated in Western Australia's Goldfields region, this exceptional underground mining operation operates within a tier 1 gold mining jurisdiction. The project benefits from the presence of a reputable mining contractor on site, known for its excellent reputation with the principal. With a minimum Life of Mine exceeding 10 years and strong long-term growth potential, this emerging mining project offers an exciting opportunity for a rewarding career as a mining engineer.

FIFO and Roster

This opportunity offers FIFO from Perth on an 8:6, Wednesday to Wednesday roster.

  • Chartered flight from Perth direct to local airstrip
  • Short air-conditioned bus ride from the airstrip to camp
  • 15-minute commute from camp to site

The Role

Reporting to the Alternate Underground Manager, you will play a critical role in developing a comprehensive two-year mine plan that encompasses design, scheduling, and supporting infrastructure. Your primary objective will be to minimize safety risks and enhance business continuity through meticulous planning and execution. Your duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Develop and communicate comprehensive mine plans integrating safety and stakeholder input over two years.
  • Create Quarterly Forecasts and infrastructure plans aligned with the Annual Budget.
  • Establish seamless mine planning systems, procedures, and standards for long-to-short term transitions.
  • Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation strategies, and communicate safety and business risks effectively.
  • Manage long-term infrastructure projects (dewatering, ventilation, power) critical for mine operations.
  • Lead and mentor the Planning Engineering Team, conducting performance reviews and development plans.
  • Oversee the development of Medium-Term mine plans in alignment with Quarterly Forecasts and the Annual Budget, ensuring operational efficiency and optimization.

Your Value

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in mining engineering
  • First Class Mine Manager's Certificate preferable
  • 5+ years mine engineering experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an underground mining operating environment
  • Advanced level user of Deswik
  • Full knowledge of Work Health and Safety (Mines) Act & Regulations
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written
  • Outstanding analytical skills with high attention to detail
