Contractors are being sought to buildÂ stage one of the M6 underground motorway project from Arncliffe to Kogarah in Sydney.Â
The M6 project, previously known as the F6 Extension, includes four kilometreÂ twin tunnelsÂ between the new M5 Motorway at Arncliffe and President Avenue at Kogarah.
The project is expected to create around 5300 jobsÂ throughout its life, and is expected toÂ cost between $2.2 billion and $2.6 billion to construct
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the projectÂ aims to fill one of the missing links in Sydneyâ€™s motorway network.
â€œOnce complete, the new M6 will provide significant time travel savings for Sydneyâ€™s south and the Illawarra. More than 2,000 trucks a day will be removed from local streets and 23 sets of traffic lights bypassed.â€

The contract is expected to be awarded in December, with construction beginning by early 2022 and open to motorists in late 2025.
