Earlier this month the second longest steel arch bridge in NSW was lifted into place. It is one of six bridges which will be delivered as part of the Parramatta Light Rail

The bridge, which is part of the Parramatta Light Rail Project, weighs 1,425 tonnes and it’s arch is 15 meters high.

It was built to allow cyclists and pedestrians cross James Russ Drive in order to access the new Tramway Avenue light rail stop.

Quick facts about the bridge:

  • The Sydney Harbour Bridge is the only larger steel arch bridge in NSW
  • It was fabricated by S&L Steel in Western Sydney
  • Completion of its assembly and construction required over 200 workers
  • To move and lower the structure onto the bridge piers took 8 hours
