Senior Estimator | Pathway to Estimating Manager

Brisbane | Insurance Building | Genuine Management Progression

An established insurance builder is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join their Brisbane team, with a genuine opportunity to progress into an Estimating Manager / Team Lead position.

This role would suit either an experienced Senior Estimator ready to take the next step into leadership, or someone with previous Team Lead / Estimating Manager experience who is looking to join a new business and develop into a broader management position.

Initially, the role will remain hands-on from a technical perspective, with a strong focus on estimate validation, peer reviews, resubmissions and mentoring, while gradually taking on greater responsibility for the wider estimating team.

The position is predominantly office-based in Brisbane, with generally only around one day per week on the road.

The Role

Working closely with the existing estimating team, your responsibilities will include:

• Completing detailed validations and peer reviews of scopes and estimates
• Reviewing estimates for accuracy, completeness and commercial viability prior to submission
• Managing resubmissions, amendments and insurer/client queries
• Providing detailed supporting information and justification where required
• Working across various insurer and client portals
• Assisting Estimators with complex scopes, costings and technical queries
• Mentoring and developing junior and intermediate Estimators
• Providing constructive feedback following estimate reviews
• Ensuring consistency and quality across estimating submissions
• Liaising with insurers, assessors, clients and internal stakeholders
• Assisting with the ongoing development of estimating processes and procedures
• Gradually taking on greater responsibility for the performance and development of the estimating team

About You

You'll already have strong experience within insurance building estimating and be comfortable operating at a senior technical level.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong experience as an Insurance Building Estimator / Senior Estimator
• Demonstrated experience completing detailed validations and peer reviews
• Strong experience with resubmissions and estimate amendments
• Confidence working across insurer and client portals
• Excellent scope writing and cost-estimating capability
• Strong understanding of residential insurance repairs and construction methodology
• Ability to review another Estimator's work and identify errors, omissions and commercial risks
• Experience mentoring, training or providing technical support to other Estimators
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Previous Team Lead or Estimating Manager experience will be highly regarded, but is not essential
