The Mine

This site is a medium sized underground hard rock gold mining operation located in regional Victoria. In between Bendigo and Melbourne.

  • Lengthy LOM with a strong production outlook
  • High-grade narrow-vein gold and antinomy
  • Experiencing minor ground squeezing and convergence
  • 4G Telstra coverage on site

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will enjoy working in a close-knit team of experienced underground mining professionals. As an all-round mining engineer, you'll be faced with duties similar to;

  • Provide short- and medium-term mine planning support across underground operations, including stope design, scheduling, and sequencing
  • Conduct geotechnical assessments and ground support recommendations in conjunction with the geotech team
  • Monitor and optimise development and production rates against plan, identifying and resolving bottlenecks
  • Prepare and review technical reports, budgets, and reconciliation data for management
  • Support ventilation, drainage, and infrastructure design for underground workings
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations across all engineering activities
  • Collaborate with operations, geology, and survey teams to drive continuous improvement in mine design and execution

The Rosters

  • 8 days on, 6 days off (11 hours per day, leaving site at 1.00pm on day 8)
  • 5 days on 2 days off (9 hours per day, with every weekend off)

Your Value

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • A minimum of 12 months recent experience as a Mining Engineer in UG hard rock mining
  • Seasoned open cut mining engineers looking to enter the UG mining space are welcomes to apply
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office computer packages (Word, Excel etc)
  • Proficient in the use of mine design software (Deswik experience is advantageous)
  • A good communicator with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • First Aid Certificate or equivalent
  • Strong safety focus on site
  • A current driver license
