Site / Project Engineer | Tier 1 Specialist Subcontractor
Location: Melbourne, Victoria Sector: Civil Infrastructure & Major Commercial
Our client is a household name in the Victorian construction industry, recognised as a premier Tier 1 subcontractor. Known for their technical excellence and massive fleet, they are the go-to partner for delivering the complex "ground-up" scopes on Victoria's most iconic high-rise developments, state-of-the-art data centres, and critical infrastructure projects.
Due to a robust pipeline of work heading into 2026 and beyond, the team is seeking a motivated Site / Project Engineer to help drive delivery across high-stakes Victorian sites.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day technical and commercial management of major civil packages. This is a fast-paced environment where the Engineer will be expected to transition seamlessly between site-based problem solving and office-based project administration.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Managing self-perform crews and specialised subcontractors to ensure production targets are met.
-
Overseeing technical quality assurance (QA) and ensuring all works align with rigorous Tier 1 standards.
-
Tracking project costs, variations, and monthly progress claims.
-
Driving safety culture on-site, ensuring all "high-risk" civil activities are executed under strict methodology.
-
Interfacing with head contractors (Tier 1 Builders) to coordinate site access and program milestones.
Technical Scope of Works
The Engineer will oversee diverse and complex civil packages, including but not limited to:
-
Earthworks: Bulk excavation, detailed earthworks, and remediation.
-
Structures: Retaining walls, shotcrete, and FRP (Formwork, Reinforcement, Pour) structures.
-
Infrastructure: Inground services, drainage, and foundation works.
-
Finishing: Asphalting, pavements, and final site tie-ins.
The Ideal Candidate
Our client is looking for a high-performer who thrives in the "sharp end" of civil delivery. To be successful, the candidate will demonstrate:
-
Experience: Ideally 2-4 years of post-graduate experience within the Australian civil construction market.
-
Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of Victorian site conditions, local standards, and subcontractor networks.
-
Technical Proficiency: Proven experience managing scopes involving bulk excavation, demolition, and inground services.
-
Communication: The ability to influence stakeholders and clearly communicate technical requirements to site teams.
-
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
Why Join This Team?
This is an opportunity to work for a market leader that offers more than just a paycheck. They provide:
-
Career Progression: A clear pathway from Site Engineer to Project Manager within a high-growth environment.
-
Project Exposure: The chance to put your name on Victoria's most significant landmark projects.
-
Stability: A massive backlog of secured work providing long-term career security.
-
Culture: A gritty, high-performing, yet supportive team culture that values "boots on the ground" engineering.
