The Company

Our client, a leading organisation in the major infrastructure space, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Manager to lead their safety function. This is a critical leadership role that will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety across a diverse and dynamic portfolio of mega projects and various other government infrastructure initiatives.

The Role

The Safety Manager will be the head of the safety function, working closely with the Compliance Manager to ensure a cohesive and robust safety and regulatory framework. This individual will be a strategic partner, driving a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive health and safety programs and procedures.

• Conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

• Leading and mentoring a team of safety professionals.

• Collaborating with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.

• Investigating incidents and accidents, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Providing expert guidance and training to all levels of the organisation on safety best practices.

• Monitoring and reporting on safety performance metrics and trends.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a proven leader with a strong background in safety management within the construction or infrastructure sector. They will possess a deep understanding of relevant safety legislation and have a track record of successfully managing complex safety challenges on large-scale projects. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential. A relevant qualification in occupational health and safety is required.

Experience working in the tier 1 space is necessary. If you have spent time working for a tier 1 subcontractor this would be even better.
