Australia’s construction and mining pipeline remains strong. The harder question is whether the industry has enough skilled people to deliver it.
The first Marble Australian Construction & Mining Workforce Report brings together the views of 618 employers, permanent employees and contractors from across the country.
It looks beyond vacancy numbers to understand what is happening inside the workforce: why experienced people are moving, what that movement is costing employers and whether the industry is doing enough to build the talent it will need next.

The workforce is moving. The supply isn’t growing fast enough.
Almost half of employers expect to increase permanent headcount over the next 12 months. At the same time, experienced workers continue to move between businesses, with salary, project quality, culture and career progression all influencing their decisions.
Hiring someone experienced may solve one vacancy. It often creates another somewhere else.
The report explores why continuing to compete for the same established workforce is becoming more expensive, and what employers can do differently.
