The Opportunity
An opportunity is available for an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter to join a leading heavy equipment OEM, supporting an established surface mine in Tasmania.
This is a permanent position from day one, working across a large fleet of heavy mining and earthmoving equipment on an even-time 7:7 roster.
With rates of $62-$69ph plus travel allowances, accommodation, meals and travel support, this is a great opportunity for an experienced mining mechanic looking for strong earning potential alongside the stability and development of an OEM.

The Role
Working at an established Tasmanian mine site, you'll be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repairs and technical support of a large mobile equipment fleet.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Technical troubleshooting, diagnostics and fault finding
- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Breakdown repairs and component changeouts
- Working across engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems
- Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
- Reading schematics and technical drawings to identify faults
- Liaising with site personnel and providing a high level of customer service
- Completing accurate reporting on maintenance and repairs
The Roster & Travel
Enjoy an even-time 7 days on / 7 days off roster, giving you a full week away from work between each rotation.
FIFO options are available from Victoria, with accommodation and meals provided while on site.
Ground transport to and from the mine is provided at the beginning and end of each rotation, with 1.5 hours of travel time paid at standard rates at both the start and end of your swing.

Training & Career Development

The business provides extensive in-house OEM training, with a minimum of 80 hours of technical training available each year.

Your Skills & Experience
We're looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter / Diesel Mechanic with a strong background working across mining or heavy earthmoving equipment.
To be considered, you'll need:
- Recognised Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Diesel trade qualification - preferably Certificate III in Mobile Plant
- Previous experience working on mining or heavy earthmoving equipment e.g. Komatsu, Hitachi, CAT, Volvo, Hyundai etc
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Experience across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to confidently read schematics and technical drawings
- Strong safety focus and high standard of workmanship
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a site-based team
- Reliable, punctual and team-focused approach
Previous OEM experience and advanced diagnostic knowledge will be highly regarded.
