The Role
Based at the Bell Bay Port Facility, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing the company's equipment across the site contract.
You will work alongside another technician, with the two of you sharing the servicing and on-call requirements. Although based in Tasmania, you will receive ongoing mentoring, training and technical support from two experienced leading hands and the wider Melbourne service team.
You'll work across equipment including:
- Heavy forklifts
- Reach stackers
- Container handlers
- Terminal tractors
- Cranes and integrated tool carriers
- Modern equipment incorporating EV technology
Your duties will include:
- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Breakdowns, fault-finding and diagnostics
- Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs
- Component change-outs
- Planned maintenance and equipment upgrades
- Warranty work
- Building a strong working relationship with the Bell Bay customer
- Occasional work at other facilities when required
Your Skills and Experience
You will ideally have:
- A trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle, Mobile Plant, Diesel Mechanical or a related mechanical trade
- Experience working on heavy vehicles, mobile plant, road transport or similar equipment
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
- The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs autonomously
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills
- A safety-focused, reliable and professional attitude
- An interest in securing a long-term permanent position
Experience with forklifts, reach stackers, container handlers, terminal tractors or other materials-handling equipment will be highly regarded but is not essential.
Trade-qualified Light Vehicle Mechanics with strong diagnostic skills and the right attitude may also be considered, with mentoring and upskilling into heavy materials-handling and mobile plant equipment available.
