The role
Reporting to the Branch Supervisor at the Burnie branch, you'll diagnose, repair and maintain heavy earthmoving equipment directly on customer sites throughout Tasmania.
The role offers genuine variety, autonomy and responsibility. Regular travel and occasional overnight stays are required, making it well suited to someone who enjoys working independently and getting out to where the machinery is.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment and components.
- Completing scheduled maintenance, breakdown repairs and major component replacements.
- Working across engines, hydraulics, powertrain systems, transmissions and electrical systems.
- Travelling throughout Tasmania to support customers across a range of industries.
- Managing your workload, travel schedule and priorities while working independently.
- Completing detailed service reports and documentation.
- Delivering professional customer service and building strong customer relationships.
- Liaising with customers, parts teams and internal service departments.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and following company procedures.
Your value and experience
You'll be a trade-qualified Diesel Technician or Mobile Plant Mechanic with experience working on earthmoving, mining, construction or other heavy equipment. You can be based anywhere on the North Coast but preferably within driving distance to the Burnie or Launceston branch.
You'll also bring:
- Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.
- Previous field service or resident technician experience, ideally.
- Sound experience across hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- A customer-focused approach and strong communication skills.
- A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Willingness to travel regularly, stay away overnight and work overtime when required.
- A full current driver's licence.
