The mine & roster

Located in western Tasmania this hard rock mine site is supported by a comfortable and well-equipped mining camp with a high standard of meals on offer. The roster includes; -

  • 8 days on, 6 days off
  • 12 hours shifts (6am - 6pm)

The role

Reporting into the Maintenance Superintendent, you will enjoy leading a crew of 10 experienced maintenance technicians in the safe execution of the planned and breakdown works to ensure the reliability and availability of production systems for both surface and underground assets. Your duties will include;-

  • Uphold organizational values and promote them within the team.
  • Develop and coach team members to build a talent pipeline for succession planning.
  • Manage team performance and provide constructive feedback aligned with company policies.
  • Coordinate leave requests to ensure adequate resources for plan execution.
  • Track and manage team training requirements to meet development goals.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and implement innovative initiatives.
  • Implement HR policies in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and Duty of Care in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Conduct safety interactions, inspections, and audits to maintain standards.
  • Allocate resources daily and address issues affecting plan achievement.

Your skills and experience

You will come from a fixed plant mining background and have experience working on mechanical and hydraulic systems, along with managing a team of tradespeople. You'll come armed with;-

  • Relevant trade qualification (Mechanical/Electrical)
  • 5+ years fixed plant supervisory experience
  • Technical experience within fixed plant operations or similar
  • Experience with Pronto / similar CMMS
  • Structural Fabrication knowledge
  • Strong Hydraulic and Pneumatic experience
  • Ability to draw and interpret simple engineering drawings
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Confidence in leading, coaching and developing team members
  • Demonstrated capability in effective communication, feedback and collaboration with others
