Genworth Group Unveils Landmark Luxury Development in North Adelaide

North Adelaide is set to experience a significant transformation with the recent acquisition of a 1.9-hectare development site by Genworth Group, a leading high-end residential developer. This ambitious project, marked by a $50 million investment, is poised to redefine luxury living in one of Adelaide’s most prestigious suburbs.

The site, which is the largest of its kind to be developed in North Adelaide in over a century, comprises 12 amalgamated allotments bordered by Ward, Jeffcott, and Archer Streets, as well as Washington Square. It includes a mix of existing structures, such as the headquarters of the Lutheran Church in Australia, a residential college, apartments, townhouses, and the state heritage-listed Hebart Hall, which dates back to 1882. This historic building will be transformed into a residence by a Sydney-based buyer, adding a touch of heritage to the otherwise modern development.

The property transaction, managed by James Juers and Simon Lambert of McGees Property on behalf of the church, is likely the most significant in North Adelaide’s history. A notable highlight of the sale is the single-home parcel, which spans 5,000 square metres and accounted for more than $15 million of the total transaction, making it one of the most expensive private property sales in the area.

Genworth Group, under the leadership of founder and managing director Chris Diamantis, has been a key player in North Adelaide’s property market for over 35 years. However, this latest acquisition represents the most extensive and complex project the company has undertaken to date. Diamantis expressed both excitement and respect for the opportunity to develop on such an important and historic site, emphasising the company’s commitment to honouring the area’s heritage while introducing modern luxury.

The vision for the site includes a blend of luxury homes, townhouses, and build-to-rent apartment towers, with plans for rooftop gardens, elevators, and other high-end amenities that cater to the discerning tastes of future residents. Genworth Group is currently conducting feasibility studies and has brought in two external architectural firms to assist with the project, given its scale and complexity.

In addition to providing high-end residential options, the development aims to foster a vibrant community atmosphere, offering easy access to North Adelaide’s renowned restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping, and recreational facilities. The site’s proximity to Adelaide Oval, the parklands, North Adelaide Golf Course, and Adelaide Zoo further enhances its appeal, making it an ideal location for those seeking a prestigious address coupled with convenient access to the city’s best lifestyle offerings.

The development is expected to attract a diverse range of buyers, from empty nesters looking to downsize without sacrificing luxury to those seeking a prime location with all the conveniences of modern living. As the largest development site in North Adelaide in over a century, this project by Genworth Group is set to establish a new benchmark for luxury living in the region, blending heritage preservation with contemporary elegance to create a truly unique residential precinct.
