Set to revolutionise Melbourne’s transport network, the Suburban Rail Loop Project is a 90-kilometre loop that will link the Frankston line, in Cheltenham in Melbourne’s south, to Werribee, in the southwest. This new line will link all of the city’s major rail lines with Melbourne Airport.

The Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews, and the Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop, recently visited the site of the future train station in southeast suburb of Clayton. Their presence was to mark the commencement of the first stage of the project. The Suburban Rail Loop is to be built over a whopping 30 years.

This will mean that passengers, travellers and commuters will not need to travel into the Melbourne CBD to access suburbs of the opposite end of the city. This will make a huge impact on travel time, convenience and the city’s overarching appeal.

Just the first stage alone will generate up to 8,000 jobs during construction.
