Are you a seasoned Estimator ready to take the next step in your career with a dynamic, growing commercial construction company? We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially astute professional to join our New Business team, focusing on securing high-quality projects across various sectors.
This is an on-going, office-based role in Victoria, Australia, reporting directly to the Pre-Construction Manager.
The successfuln Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects across diverse sectors, including commercial, tertiary education, health, aged care, industrial, multi-residential, and sports and recreation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining a competitive edge and ensuring profitability.
Lead the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for projects ranging from $1M to $20M+.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope and requirements.
Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities and trade break-ups for tendering and procurement.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and clarify inclusions/exclusions.
Conduct risk analysis and identify value engineering opportunities.
Support training and mentoring of junior estimators and cadets.
Participate in pre-tender meetings, tender reviews (Bronze, Silver, Gold process), and client presentations.
Assist with handover to delivery teams, communicating all assumptions and inclusions.
We are looking for a candidate who is collaborative, commercially astute, and accountable.
Minimum 4+ years' experience in estimating within the commercial construction sector.
Proven track record of successful tendering and accurate cost forecasting.
Advanced proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, Cubit) and Microsoft Excel.
Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously under strict deadlines.
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts, and industry benchmarks.
