Full Position Details
Ready to step into a role where your technical expertise directly shapes safety, production, and long term mine performance? This established and well invested underground operation in Tasmania is seeking a Backfill Engineer who can take ownership of both backfill and ventilation systems that support safe and efficient underground mining.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain the site ventilation model to support long term planning, emergency management, and scenario analysis
Maintain a complete Masterfile of underground ventilation infrastructure in Deswik
Develop backfill guidelines to ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective backfill execution aligned to LOM and MOP requirements
Provide monthly rolling forecasts for consumables and input into capital purchasing
Liaise with Mining, Planning, Processing, and Maintenance to ensure integrated execution of vent and backfill plans
Execute all tasks in line with WHS legislation and site protocols
Support continuous improvement and contribute to a strong safety culture
Complete assigned safety actions and implement activities from the Safety Improvement Plan
Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
Experience with paste fill and CRF
Proficient in Ventsim and Deswik
More than 5 years underground experience
Experience leading small teams and managing multiple projects
Strong communication skills and cross department collaboration
