The Mine & Roster

The Role
- Assist the Mining Manager in setting the strategic direction and production expectations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure the safe and timely delivery of all technical work required for meeting budget targets.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, assessing, and leading initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, cost efficiency, and ESG outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with the Underground Manager and Alternate Underground Manager on key priorities for the month and quarter, ensuring complete alignment between the technical team and the underground contractor.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the performance of the mine planning team, providing individual development plans and succession planning to support team growth.
- Recruit for roles within the mine planning team and provide recommendations to the Mining Manager on the required organisational structure to meet yearly production targets. Develop succession plans to ensure vacancies are filled internally where possible.
- Collaborate with all site departments (namely Geology, Geotechnical Engineer, Survey and Processing) to gather critical inputs for mine planning & scheduling and ensure timely, clear communication of planning outputs to operational teams and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain safe, detailed underground development and infrastructure designs that support operational efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review standard processes and systems related to all aspects of mine planning, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and process streamlining.
- Oversee the setup and maintenance of the Deswik framework on site, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
- Ensure delivery of Area Notes for each production level/district, supporting approximately 12-18 months of mining activity.
- Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly schedules, ensuring operational alignment and timely execution.
- Development and embedment of a 6Q forecast each quarter.
Your Skills and Experience
You are required to possess and demonstrate the following:
Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- WA First Class Mine Manager's (non-coal) Statutory Certificate (preferred) or ability to attain within 12 months
- 8+ years of experience in mechanised UG mining, including narrow vein gold operations
- Exposure to the various stages of an UG operation, including drill & blast, mine services and infrastructure, ventilation, backfill, production and scheduling
- Significant underground mine planning experience, including budget preparation and long-term planning
- Expert Deswik user (CAD, SO, IS & SCHED) or similar package
- VentSim competency
- 3+ years in a leadership role with experience training and mentoring junior staff
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, presentation, literacy, numeracy and analytical skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously with well-developed time management skills
- Business acumen gained within an operational mining environment
- Functional knowledge of WA Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and Work Health and Safety Act 2020
