The Opportunity

This is an extremely unique opportunity for an experienced underground hard rock Geotech to have their name associated with the development of a new mine whilst managing challenges from an adjacent established deep mine with an extensive production history. You'll learn from a seasoned consultant with extensive experience at the mine. This newly created position offers the following opportunities; -

This growth-focused Australian resources company is dedicated to building a portfolio of gold and copper assets through exploration, development, and acquisition. The company is expanding its existing processing plant and extending the mine's life through the development of a nearby deposit. The Project

Exciting times lie ahead for this principal miner as they have recently received approvals of a new mining lease which will see the expansion of their existing processing plant, whilst extending the mine's life by another 10 years. Based in Northern Queensland, the mine employs a combination of long hole open stoping and sub level caving mining methods. The deep sections of the mine are seismically active, often experiencing rock defamation in the shoulders subject to high stress.

The Roster & Camp Facilities

Enjoy a FIFO position on an 8:6 roster (2:2 considered), with options to fly out of with Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville. Camp and meals are provided at accommodation in fully equipped camp with transfers organised from the airport. Other benefits include; -

  • Your choice of either a Mon-Mon, Weds-Weds or Thurs-Thurs roster

The Role

Reporting to the Mine Manager, you'll thrive within a tightly knit technical services team and be at the forefront of ensuring the stability and efficiency of the underground operations. Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to); -

  • Integrating geotechnical expertise into mine design, production sequencing, and excavations for reliable access
  • Implementing advanced sequencing guidelines and evaluating performance to uphold ground control standards
  • Ensuring safety and compliance through effective communication with staff and contractors
  • Utilizing state-of-the-art tools for engineering data analysis and design
  • Conducting precise monitoring, analysis, and inspections for daily geotechnical tasks
  • Processing, analysing, and reporting seismic data to inform operations
  • Providing critical geotechnical input for mine design, scheduling, and compliance
  • Designing, monitoring, and supporting ground control systems with comprehensive mapping and hazard reporting
  • Applying rock mechanics and mining engineering knowledge to address operational challenges

Your Value

  • Degree qualified in Geotechnical, Civil or Mining Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering in underground metalliferous mining
  • Proficient in IMS and geotechnical software packages (desirable)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A commitment to safety and environmental stewardship
